Questions about renovating a home.
What deductions apply in 2026 to renovate a home in Italy?
For renovation work on your main residence the deduction in 2026 is 50%, for other homes 36%, with a spending cap of €96,000 per property unit. Deductions are on Italian income tax (IRPEF), so they are useful if you pay tax in Italy.
Is a permit always needed?
It depends on the works: painting and replacing floors are generally free building activity, while moving partitions or redoing systems usually requires a CILA. We tell you at the survey and prepare the paperwork.
Are there special rules in apartment buildings?
Yes: hours for noisy work, use of lift and common parts, possible notice to the building manager. We take care of it, informing neighbours and protecting stairs and lift.
How long does it take to redo a bathroom?
Usually a few weeks on site once materials and fixtures are chosen. We write the exact date into the contract.
Is the site survey really free?
Yes. We come to the property, measure, check systems and structures and give you a written, itemised quote. You pay nothing and commit to nothing.
What does fixed price mean?
The price written in the contract is the final price for the work described. If during the job you decide to add or change something, we quote it in writing first: no extra item appears on the invoice without your approval.
